HOBART, Ind. (AP) -- A northwestern Indiana movie theater is requiring parents to accompany kids 17 and younger for many nighttime showings.Starting this week, teenagers who want to see movies at the Kerasotes Showplace 12 in Hobart after 6 p.m. on Friday, Saturday or Sunday need to bring their parents with them. The policy also requires a parents to accompany minors for shows starting after 9 p.m. Monday through Thursday.
The new policy was implemented by Kerasotes in response to a meeting held last week between Hobart police and merchants on how to address a recent problems involving unruly teens.
Police say one of the incidents was a fight involving about 150 teens.
Kerasotes marketing director Clair Malo says the policy has been used at other theaters.
I can see it now. Little Bobby tries to put his arm around little Suzie during the most romantic part of the latest Sandra Bullock movie. He can't though, because Suzie's Dad has his hand on Bobby's leg crushing his femur. Sorry, kids. Date night is over.
