No distress call from boat with 2 NFL players
CLEARWATER, Fla. (AP) -- Relatives tell the Coast Guard the four men on a fishing boat that disappeared off Florida's Gulf Coast had lifejackets and flares onboard.
Two of the men are NFL players: Corey Smith of the Detroit Lions and Marquis Cooper of the Oakland Raiders. The others are former college football players Will Bleakley and Nick Schuyler.
Cooper owns the 21-foot boat, which didn't return as expected Saturday night, when the weather took a turn for the worse. Other boaters said they were surprised the water had gotten so rough. There were 7-foot seas in the area Saturday night.
A helicopter has been aiding in the search of a 750 square-mile area off Clearwater Pass. The Coast Guard says it didn't receive a distress call.

Of course a Detroit Lion was aboard this boat. No way a member of the lousiest team in the NFL would avoid an opportunity to embarrass himself. Pshaw! That would be silly!
