NOBLESVILLE, Ind. (AP) -- A Parke County man is heading off his death-penalty trial by pleading guilty to charges that he killed his wife and her two young daughters.
A judge has appointed two psychiatrists to examine Chad Cottrell before a hearing Friday on whether the guilty plea to three counts of murder will be accepted.
Cottrell is charged with fatally shooting 29-year-old Trisha Cottrell, 12-year-old Brittany Williams and 10-year-old Victoria Williams at their rural home near the western Indiana town of Rockville in October 2005.
Cottrell made the guilty plea on Friday. His trial was scheduled to start March 23 in Hamilton County, where the case had been moved because of publicity over the killings in Parke County.

I'll have you know, Parke County happens to be the "Covered Bridge Capitol of the World." In fact, I have a peach-colored tee shirt from an antique shop in Parke County. You'll never guess what it says on the front.
Here's a hint: It does not say "The Crazy Murderer Capitol of the World."
